2020 Learning Awards Recipients

The BVCF is providing over $35,000.00 to local learners this year.

We recognize that students will have significant challenges financing their post-secondary plans in this unprecedented year. For this reason we decided to more than double the size of the Learning awards program.

Congratulations to this year’s BVCF Grade 12 Learning Award recipients:
Hanna Bhatti, Mackenzie Emberley, Chris Jansma, and Emma Larson from Houston Secondary School;
Sally Bargh, Cara Brawdy, Silvia Bryshun, Lucas Chiaravalloti, Oliver Kildaw, MacKenzie Kirton-Spurway, Miller Kriese, Klara Moon, Shaelyn Radu, and Jessica Walton from Smithers Secondary School;
Joshua Moes and Skyler Penninga from Ebenezer Christian Reformed School in Smithers;
Araceli O’Coffey and Miranda Stolte from Bulkley Valley Christian School in Smithers; and
Emma Hobenshield from Hazelton Secondary School.

Thanks to Wetzin’kwa Community Forest Corporation for sponsoring Grade 12 Learning Awards, this year going to:
Alexandria Brooks, Hannah Buchanan and Martin Rozario from Smithers Secondary School; and Hanneliese Laskowski from Bulkley Valley Christian School.

The Nick Van Arem Award for Courage, Spirit and Determination is chosen by Smithers Secondary staff for a student who exhibits courage and determination while overcoming their own challenges. This year we congratulate Ariadne Hite with this well-deserved honour!

2020 year marks the second year of our Fritz Pfeiffer Adult Learning Awards. The awards assist students who are 19 years of age or older and are beginning or continuing their post-secondary studies. These strong and motivated individuals exemplify the characteristics Fritz Pfeiffer wanted to support with his legacy:
Jennifer Anderson, Natasha Lebiadowski, Heather Mitchinson, Trichelle Reay, Kristy Rosger, and Danielle Skerik.

In addition to these awards, the BVCF manages the Creative Roots Bursary Fund, providing tuition help for pupils of the Creative Roots Performing Arts School.

Best wishes for an exciting and successful future to all Bulkley Valley 2020 graduates. You have accomplished much to be proud of!
